Poplar River to Drinkwater Transmission Line Project
We’re planning a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between the Poplar River Switching Station and a new switching station near Belle Plaine, called the Drinkwater Switching Station.
Project Details
The proposed transmission line would be approximately 185-kilometres long and built on steel H-frame structures. This project is one key part of a broader plan to move electricity from the Poplar River area to homes, businesses and communities across the province.
We Want Your Feedback
Public engagement is important to us.
We’ve identified several potential route options for the new transmission line. At this stage, each option is shown within a 300-metre-wide planning corridor to provide flexibility as studies are completed and feedback is gathered. The final transmission line right-of-way will be 40 metres wide.
We’re seeking input from Rightsholders, Indigenous communities, landowners, municipalities, stakeholders and community members to help us better understand the area and identify potential concerns and opportunities.
Your feedback, along with technical studies, environmental and archeological reviews and land use considerations, will help us select a preferred route and reduce potential impacts wherever possible.
What We’re Looking for Feedback On
As we learn more about the project area, we’d like to hear from you about:

- Individuals, groups or organizations we should engage with
- Any questions or concerns you would like to share
